A Message from Accreditation Canada regarding COVID-19

Dear Accreditation Canada clients,

We know all of you are actively responding to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation based on guidance of WHO, Government of Canada and your Provincial and Territorial Governments. We are doing the same at Accreditation Canada.

The health and safety of our staff, our surveyors, and our clients remains our top priority.

Our Commitment to You

As a client of Accreditation Canada, we are here to support you in any way we can as you implement measures to prevent and contain the spread of COVID-19. You can be assured that the HSO standards that you have in place already for infection prevention control, hand hygiene, and other related areas will serve you well as a strong foundation for quality and safety within your organization. As always, you have continued access to your HSO standards through the Client Portal.

In coming to a decision on whether to proceed with on-site surveys over the coming weeks and months, our current position is guided by the latest evidence and directives, as well as in consultation with many of you. A main factor in our determination is the degree of community spread, which we will continue to be monitored.

Accreditation Canada will not proceed with surveys in any areas where there is evidence of sustained community spread, in areas in which a state of emergency has been declared or where other relevant government or organizational restrictions are in place.

Accreditation Canada is prepared to support the postponement of surveys that are currently scheduled between now and the end of May. Please contact your Accreditation Coordinator to confirm your desired survey plans.

Given that many of you have surveyors who work in your organization, we want you to know that Accreditation Canada has advised all our Canadian based surveyors that international travel is on hold until further notice. Furthermore, our Accreditation Canada surveyors will not be sent to any locations in Canada where there are travel restrictions or government advisories and we will respect any decisions made by individual surveyors not to travel based on needs within their organizations that take priority.
