Clinique Saint-Luc Bouge in Belgium Celebrates Accreditation
April 27, 2019
“Quality and safety are definitely the issues under debate today, so accreditation makes sense,” says Paul d’Otreppe, Chief Executive at Clinique Saint-Luc Bouge, a hospital in Namur, Belgium.
Clinique Saint-Luc Bouge was recently accredited at the Gold level by Accreditation Canada using their Qmentum InternationalTM program; an accomplishment that was celebrated by all staff.
“Being accredited proves to patients and to various health care partners that the institution implements procedures primarily to improve quality and safety both for patients and staff,” says Sarah Flahaux, Assistant to the Nursing Executive, Quality Office. “It’s a mobilization of everyone towards a common goal.”
Clinique Saint-Luc Bouge was so proud of its accreditation that the organization decided to create a video about the accreditation process and the value of it. You can watch the video here.
Dr. Véronique Charloteaux, Emergency Services, says the accreditation process brought all of the hospital’s teams together.
“It was a huge workload, but a collaborative workload, and that’s what’s great, because all teams participated. Everyone did their part,” she said.
She adds that moving forward, Clinique Saint-Luc Bouge will build upon the things it has learned during its recent accreditation experience.
“The goal is to perpetuate what has been established, to undertake other small projects and then to aim for the top medal.”
The top medal to Clinique Saint-Luc Bouge means achieving Diamond level accreditation with Qmentum InternationalTM.
A key differentiator in the program is dedicated support to ensure participating organizations continuously improve using a people-centred approach that integrates the voice of patients and their families as part of the quality process.
