HSO’s Leading Practices Database is dedicated to highlighting innovative health care and service practices that organizations can use to improve effectiveness and efficiency
Accreditation Canada and its affiliate Health Standards Organization (HSO) are committed to unleashing the power and potential of people who share our passion for quality health services.
With over 1,000 Leading Practices recognized as being particularly innovative and effective in improving quality, the Database is a free, knowledge sharing resource, providing the public, policy makers and organizations new ways to focus the system on delivering appropriate care and providing timely access.
These practices are leading in a service delivery area in a health care or service setting, or for a specific health care challenge. Often, they are implemented by organizations with limited resources, showing how innovative and creative strategies can achieve positive results at a minimal cost. The database also contains Commendable Practices, which, while not new or leading, are proven to be efficient and effective methods for improving quality.
