Meet Patricia, Executive Lead Policy and Partner Engagement
I joined HSO and AC in April 2017 as the Executive Lead, Policy and Partner Engagement, shortly after the announcement of its ambitious new strategy. I am an advocate for the use of evidence to drive decision making…and know first-hand how important that is in health and social services. I believe in our mandate and the People Powered Health philosophy, and am energized by the work we do to design and implement world class assessment programs that ensure safer, higher quality care for all. I was also eager to work with our CEO, Leslee Thompson, as I knew she also feels strongly about embedding patients in the programs we develop and understands the importance of data quality and accountability.
Part of my role is developing partnerships with federal and provincial/territorial policy decision makers like Health Canada, and the Ministries of Health; as well as organizations focused on quality and safety, such as quality councils and associations. Building a partnership is about building trusting relationships. The agenda in each province is different because they’re dealing with unique priorities and constraints. It is essential to be respectful of local pressures, and understand what HSO and AC can bring to that relationship and how we can help. I’m extremely motivated by that. If we can help clients achieve better quality care, it’s better for the public, patients, healthcare providers and policy makers.
I learn so much from the people I work with. Every day I’m impressed by the diversity, energy and intellect of our team and the work we deliver. It might not work for everyone, but I like the innovation and variety in my role…it’s a good fit for me. To be the best, we need products and services that can support our clients to deliver quality every day, across every health and social service organization. HSO and AC are changing, and I intend to help in shaping how we influence better care for all.
