Meet Escarlet, Software Developer
I joined HSO/Accreditation Canada in 2012 after working in the private sector for 12 years as a Software Developer. I was born in Nicaragua and worked for the Faculty of Medicine of the University (UNAN) and Coca-Cola International prior to moving to Canada when I was 19 years old. It took me a few years to adapt to being in a new country, but eventually, I went to college and graduated with a Computer Science diploma. I have to admit, coming from the IT industry, I didn’t know a lot about Accreditation Canada when I applied for a job.
What I noticed right away, however, was the incredible people that work here. It didn’t take long before they became my extended family. We share challenges and successes together. I don’t have to be in the office everyday as I have the flexibility to work from home, however, I choose to come in because I look forward to everyone’s presence. We have such a good team and work in a great environment! The company also offers me a great compensation package and work life balance which is very important to me. It allows me to balance between my professional and personal life so I can be there for my work and my family.
And I’m extremely motivated by the work that we do. Our technical committees now allow patients to become actively involved in our global standards development process. Patients have the ability to provide input and feedback about the quality of care they receive. Knowing that people are affected by what we do is a great feeling. I like being a part of that change and making a difference in patient’s lives.
