Meet Annick, Program Manager with International Programs
When I joined Accreditation Canada (AC) as an accreditation assistant ten years ago, filling in for a maternity leave, I never dreamed that today I’d be a program manager with the international accreditation program. I can’t tell you how much it means to me that my managers believed in my skills enough to offer me this position.

Before I joined AC and its affiliate Health Standards Organization (HSO), I dabbled in the finance industry and worked at a small real estate office as jack-of-all-trades. It gave me some great experience in communications and customer service, but I knew wanted more. I wanted to make a difference in the world.
I’ve been with the international program for about two years and took on the program manager position in January. I handle client accounts and respond to—and often anticipate—their needs. Luckily, I’ve always had a passion for learning, because there’s a lot to take in. I’m also completing my degree in health administration.
Right now, I’m immersed in the roll out of Qmentum Global and making sure the transition is as smooth as possible for our clients. I make a point of ensuring that the client perspective is always front and centre. They’re out there making this program happen, we owe it to them to listen and respond. And I learn so much from my colleagues. Not just about work. For instance, the idea of “taking a moment of pause before speaking” is one I took to heart. It’s a useful tip that has served me well more than a few times!
I grew up in the Ottawa/Gatineau area, moving from Aylmer to Ottawa in 2008 with my husband and my two boxers, Buster and Trouble. They see me through life’s little stresses, and the big ones.

One of the biggest was beating cancer. As a survivor, I’ve experienced both sides of the health care equation and I know firsthand how a culture of quality affects patient care. Travelling that road and coming out stronger on the other side changed me irrevocably, adding a new and very personal dimension to my work.
I am so grateful for the support I received from AC during my illness. Everyone from all levels rallied round. There were so many times they seemed to know what I needed before I did! Rather than my going on leave, we developed a flexible schedule, which was a huge plus because often work was the only thing I had any control over. Throughout my career here, and especially during that time, I made friendships I know will last forever.
AC and HSO offer so much potential to build a career and do work that really matters. The people are open, supportive, and welcoming, and they and the ongoing opportunities to keep learning and growing are what keep me here, every single day.
