Accreditation Canada is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to working with patients, policy makers and the public to improve the quality of health and social services for all.
We work to bring the best of health care from around the world home, and vice versa. We work closely with health and social services organizations in Canada and abroad to develop a sustainable culture of improvement that betters safety and efficiency, working to save and improve lives. From the standards we use to the frontline assessments we conduct and everything in between, patients and families are full partners in what we do.
More than 1,000 health and social service organizations and 7,000 sites in Canada and around the world have been accredited through our programs and services, leading to safer, quality health care for those who matter most; patients and their families.
Headquartered in Ottawa (Canada), AC has satellite offices in Toronto, Montreal, Brussels (Belgium) and Quito (Ecuador). AC is powered by a knowledgeable and experienced team of over 700 staff, surveyors and partners working with clients in Canada and around the world. From former hospital CEOs to patients with significant, first-hand experience of the health system, to Indigenous community health leaders and more, Accreditation Canada staff are in tune with your daily challenges and are dedicated to helping your organization offer the best care possible. When you succeed, we succeed in achieving quality health services for all.
Accreditation Canada also has a team of more than 500 surveyors. Though we are known for assessments that drive positive change in health care and social services, we’re now working with our affiliate – Health Standards Organization (HSO) – to deliver more objective, credible and outcome-oriented assessment programs based on the best global standards. We are pulling the best aspects of health and social services from around the world and bringing them home.
Together, Accreditation Canada and HSO are working to put you first, as we don’t believe that you should settle for anything less than the best for your health. Through our accreditation programs, based on HSO’s best-in-class standards, Accreditation Canada helps organizations to improve safety and efficiency so they can offer the best possible quality of care.
Together, we are putting people at the very centre of everything we do.
